Dr Ken Romeo - Anti Aging - Reno Nevada - Papaya vs. A Custom Antioxidant Elixir in Anti Aging

OPINION: Dr Ken Romeo  775-870-6942
It's about time!!!
A study was conducted showing the anti aging effects of  oral supplementation with a fermented papaya preparation versus an antioxidant cocktail consisting of resveratrol, selenium, vitamin E and vitamin C. The study aimed to compare the improvements in skinpap antioxidant capacity and the expression of key skin genes. The purpose? To measure skin anti aging effects.
The study enrolled 60 healthy non-smoker males and females aged 40-65 years. Each study enrollee showed clinical signs of skin aging. The study was double blind and the papaya vs. antioxidant cocktail was given sublingually twice per day for a total of 90 days.
The study parameters investigated were:
  • Skin surface brown spots
  • Skin evenness
  • Skin moisturization
  • Facial elasticity
  • Oxidation
  • Nitric oxide levels
  •  The expression levels of key genes (outer forearm sample).
When compared with baseline, the papaya group showed a significant improvement in skin evenness, moisturization and elasticity.
Levels of MDA (Malondialdehyde) and Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) were also studied. Both MDA and SOD are markers of oxidative stress. Essentially, the more of these two substances, the better in terms of slowing free radical levels in the body.
Both group's levels MDA and SOD skin concentrations improved, but only the papaya group showed a higher SOD level and a significant Nitric Oxide increase
These findings suggest that orally-administered papaya showed a consistent biological and gene-regulatory improvement in the skin while common oral antioxidants had only a minor effect.
