25 Facts you MUST know Before Beginning the Anti Aging Diet in 2017 – Dr Ken Romeo Reno NV – #12

Here’s a scary fact: A National Institutes of Health study showed that, “over a 10 year period, the risk of dying was almost twice as great for those with the highest levels of insulin compared with those with the lowest.”
The NIH researchers stated that, “hyperinsulinemia (high blood sugar) IS associated with increased all-cause and cardiovascular disease mortality, independent of other risk factors.”
The Anti Aging Diet will help to decrease and normalize insulin levels.

25 Facts you MUST know Before Beginning the Anti Aging Diet in 2017 – Dr Ken Romeo Reno NV – #10

It is normal for aging people that are not on an anti-aging diet to have higher fasting insulin levels. But higher fasting insulin levels are ANYTHING but desirable!
Aging people experience a wide range of degenerative disease states that are directly attributable to elevated insulin (hyperinsulinemia)!
The Anti Aging Diet normalizes insulin levels so there is a double benefit: (1) Weight loss and (2) less chance of degenerative diseases.

Dr Ken Romeo - Insulin. Not Just for Diabetes - Anti Aging - Reno Nevada

OPINION: Dr Ken Romeo   775-870-6942
Introducing a new drug to the market is a time-consuming and expensive process due to FDA regulations. Discovering new uses for old drugs benefits patients by providing them time-tested drugs that have an established safety profile. Many are generic so they are

cost effective for the patient.
Developments in insulin therapy are ongoing. It's worth keeping up to date on trends in the use of this powerful glucose-lowering drug.
The purpose of this article is to explore the potential non-diabetic clinical applications of insulin.
The HARF performed an exhaustive literature search which was carried out through various scientific journals regarding the diverse applications of insulin other than in diabetes mellitus. The applications listed below include other potential therapeutic uses of insulin.
Upon studying the literature, the non-diabetic uses of insulin at a minimum include the following:
  • Cancer treatment
  • Wound healing
  • Anti aging
  • Cardioprotective  in acute coronary syndromes
  • Organ preservation
  • Bodybuilding
  • Parenteral nutrition
  • Management of septic shock
  • Critical illnesses requiring the Intensive Care Unit
Any off-label use of insulin needs to be done only under the supervision of a licensed physician.

Dr Ken Romeo - Anti Aging Reno Nevada - Genistein for Facial Wrinkles, Considerations in Cancer Treatment

OPINION: Dr. Ken Romeo   775-870-6942
You are post-menopause, beginning to suffer facial wrinkles and your local health food store recommends that you begin taking the wonder natraceutical - genistein - to help alleviate your facial wrinkles. Fine, except you are being treated for cancer and have been put on aromatase inhibitors.
Beware. Caution. Consult your physician or oncologist.

Think twice before genistein, the soy-based supplement if you are taking aromatase inhibitors to treat breast cancer or prevent its recurrence.
Genistein mimics the effects of estrogen in the body. Great! But genistein can negate the effectiveness of aromatase inhibitors, which are designed to reduce the levels of estrogens that can promote tumor growth in some types of breast cancer.
I can't say this enough - Use extreme caution and ask your physician before initiating or continuing genistein therapy if you are taking aromatase inhibitors to treat cancer.

Diabetes, Insulin Resistance, Anti-Aging and Gallic Acid - Dr Ken Romeo - Reno Nevada

Opinion: Dr. Ken Romeo, Contact: 775-870-6942
Gallic acid is a natural phytochemical found in foods and herbs such as blueberries, walnuts, apples, flax seed and tea. Gallic acid is also found in gall nuts, sumac, witch hazel,

watercress, oak bark, and many other plants and herbs.
Gallic acid is known to have a variety of cellular functions including beneficial effects on metabolic syndromes such as diabetes. That said, the molecular mechanism by which Gallic acid exerts its beneficial effects is not known.
I, and other scientists, suspect that Gallic acid plays its role through the activation of protein kinase and by regulating mitochondrial function via the activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ coactivator1α (PGC1α).
In other words, Gallic acid plays its beneficial metabolic role by activating and by changing the genes related to the production of heat - thermogenesis.
If this is actually the case, Gallic acid or its derivatives might be a potential therapeutic intervention for diabetes, insulin resistance and have a positive effect on diabetic patients.
Diet plays a major role in any anti-aging program. Diet is foundational to those with diabetes. Speak with your doctor if you have already been diagnosed with diabetes to determine if the addition of foods and herbs containing Gallic acid is right for you.
