Off-Label Drugs and Anti Aging - Dr Ken Romeo - Reno NV

OPINION: Dr Ken Romeo   775-870-6942
Given the surge of the aging population in modern societies, one of the most important health care needs is successful aging with less frailty and dependency.
In seems like for the past 10 to 15 years a new anti aging practice appears on every street corner, promising to retarding or even stop and reverse the effects of aging on the human body.
One of the cornerstones of anti-aging medicine is hormone replacement therapy. At present, women live one third of their lives in a state of sex-hormone deficiency. Men are also subject to age-related testosterone decline, but andropause remains frequently under-diagnosed and under-treated.
Due to the decline of hormone production from gonads in both sexes, the importance of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in steroid hormone production increases with age. DHEA levels decrease with age in both sexes.
Skin aging as well as decreases in lean body mass, bone mineral density, sexual desire and erectile function, intellectual activity and mood have all been related to a decrease of hormone production with age.
Disagreements exist between recommendations from medical and scientific societies and the actual use of hormone supplements in aging and elderly patients.
But one can no longer argue that a decline in an individuals hormone levels directly affect the aging process and age-related diseases such as sarcopenia and falls, osteoporosis, cognitive decline, mood disorders, cardiovascular health and sexual activity. Deceased levels do affect the disease states mentioned.
However, methods exist that when utilized under the care of a health provider who specializes in natural healing can be just as effective in disease regression without the dangers of "medical" hormone replacement therapy. Physicians are trained to treat disease. I cannot define aging as a "disease."

Natural Methods Exist
We argue on future perspectives of such protocols as part of everyday practice but done naturally when possible and not immediately with dangerous hormone replacement prescription drugs.

Dr Ken Romeo – Anti Aging – DHEA, hGH and Hormone Replacement Therapy – Reno Nevada

OPINION:  Dr Ken Romeo   775-870-6942

The most important health care need in successful aging is to age with less frailty and dependency. This means adopting an anti aging program into your life immediately.
The anti aging industry is booming and claims to slow aging and even stop and reverse the effects of natural aging. Stop aging? …..Quackery???

One of the mainstays of many anti-aging practices is hormone replacement therapy. Why? Women live approximately one third of their lives in a state of sex-hormone deficiency. Men are also subject to age-related testosterone decline, and unfortunately, testosterone-level therapy remains frequently underdiagnosed.
DHEA levels also decrease with age and the importance of supplementing DHEA cannot be overstated. Also, growth hormone age-associated decrease and the insulin growth factor-1 levels found in elderly individuals are sometimes as low as those encountered in adult patients with established deficiency. However, rhGH and HGH remain controversial therapy in an anti aging practice. Further safety evidence for treating a patient off label with rhGH/hGH is necessary.
The effects of not beginning a natural anti aging program include: skin aging, decreases in lean body mass, decreases in bone mineral density (osteoporosis), lowered sexual desire and erectile function, decreased intellectual activity and unstable mood. Each of these conditions may be a part of hormone deficiencies and the lower levels of hormones that occur as one ages. But the good news is that a properly constructed anti aging program will have a positive effect on each “age related” condition listed above!
Huge disagreements between the various scientific societies and actual use of hormone supplements in aging and elderly patients exist. Remember, if you start early enough and begin to practice an anti aging regimen in your daily life, radical hormone replacement therapy which may not be safe may never have to be started in the first place!
